Event Planning Tips
1. Questions to ask When Hiring a Band:
What style of music do you play?
Have you got a recording? (Keep in mind most bands sound better live than on record)
Can we see a set list?
What does your fee include?
Is sound production and lighting additional?
Do you take requests?
Will you get people dancing?
Will you play my favourite song? Do you learn songs if given enough notice?
How do I confirm everything, and know that you will arrive on time?
Will there be a contract?
Can you play cocktail music as guests arrive? Is there an additional fee?
Do you carry liability insurance?
Do you have referrals?
Do you have a website?
Weddings: will you learn a song for our first dance? Can you play music that appeals to my grandma who’s 75, and my brother who’s 23? Traditional Jewish music? Italian? Polkas? Waltzes?
Corporate Events: Can you play quietly for the first set “underneath conversation level” until we’re finished dinner, and ready to dance? Once we’re ready to dance, are you able to do something that will appeal to everybody?
